Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about reading the Quran here, why it's free and ad-free, and how the Ummah keeps it that way.

simplequran.net exists for one reason: to make the complete Quran — Arabic text, English translation, and audio recitation — freely available to anyone, anywhere, with nothing standing between the reader and the words of Allah. Below are answers to the questions we're asked most.

Using the App

Is simplequran.net really free to use?+
Yes. The complete Quran — all 114 surahs, in Arabic with English translation and audio recitation — is free for every visitor, with no account, no paywall, and no locked chapters. It was built as a sadaqah jariyah, a continuous charity meant to keep giving benefit long after it was made, and it will stay that way.
Do I need to create an account?+
No sign-up, no email, no password. Open the site and start reading right away. Your bookmarks and preferences are saved privately in your own browser, never on a server.
Can I read offline or install it like an app?+
Yes. simplequran.net is a Progressive Web App — add it to your home screen on Android or iOS and it opens like a native app, with previously read surahs available offline.
Can I bookmark verses and come back to them?+
Yes. Tap the bookmark on any ayah, give it a color, and find it later in the Bookmarks view with filters. This stays on your device, private to you.
Can I listen to recitation?+
Yes. Every surah plays ayah by ayah with a choice of reciters, and the English translation can be read or played alongside it.
Does it show prayer times and Qibla direction?+
Yes. Look up prayer times by city or by sharing your location, and use the built-in Qibla compass to find the direction of the Kaaba from wherever you are.

Ad-Free, Donations & the Ummah

Does simplequran.net have ads?+
No. simplequran.net has no ads, for anyone. Premium subscribers and donors make this possible. When you support us, the entire community benefits — including the millions who can't afford to give. Reading the Quran should feel like an act of worship, not like browsing a cluttered website.
If the Quran is free, why ask for donations?+
The reading experience is free forever — but keeping it online, accurate, and ad-free costs something behind the scenes. Donations from those who are able to give are what let it remain open to those who cannot. For the donor, it's a quiet, ongoing amal jariyah; for the whole Ummah, it's a shared trust.
Where do donations actually go?+
Donations cover hosting and upkeep, fund features like prayer times, Qibla, and offline reading, and keep the entire site free of advertising for every visitor. Every contribution, however small, helps sustain access for someone whose only way to reach the Quran may be through this app.
What does Sabr have to do with a Quran app?+
Sabr — patient perseverance — is one of the Quran's most repeated themes, and it shapes how this project is built too. Growing a free resource for the Ummah takes time, small steady improvements, and trust that the effort is not wasted. Allah reminds us that He is with those who are patient (2:153), and that "the patient will be given their reward without measure" (39:10). Every line of code and every donation here is an act of Sabr, sustained quietly, for the sake of others.
How can I support the Ummah through this project?+
Read, share it with your family, your masjid, or your study circle, and donate what you're able to so it can stay free and ad-free for everyone. A resource built for the whole Ummah grows through the whole Ummah — your part may be small, but so is a single drop, and oceans are made of them.
